Lego City: Undercover

An open-world Lego game that parodies GTA and a whole genre of cop action flicks.

Large open world with lots of collectibles ; Inspired movie parodies work well ; Good mix of GTA and classic Lego gameplay ; New super-builds to collect and construct

Technical issues and lengthy loading times ; No multiplayer co-op play

The driving isn’t brilliant, thanks to some iffy handling, but crumb trails and a map on the Wii U Pad help make the city easy to navigate, and the car chase missions are chaotically entertaining. We’ll say this for Lego City: you certainly won’t be...

Lego City: Undercover ::: Review

I'll say it again: I think it's better than GTA IV.

LEGO City: Undercover Review

Its humour may be slightly weak and unlocks spread far and wide, but LEGO City Undercover is a thoroughly enjoyable and refreshingly innocent open-world game.

Full of confident charm; Enjoyable pace and heaps to unlock; Excellent use of the GamePad; Will keep you hooked for tens of hours

Long load times and frame rate dips; A little too easy; Humour at times falls flat

LEGO City Undercover review

LEGO City Undercover needs to be a knight in shining armour for Wii U owners.

LEGO City Undercover is based on a fun-loving story that is accessible for younger gamers, yet peppered with references that will leave older gamers smiling at all times. The gameplay is lacking depth, the loading times are abysmal, and inconsistent...

Lego City Undercover: Chase McCain Can Do It All, At Any Time

Lego City Undercover is an over-the-top adventure that may do a little too much hand-holding, but is still quite delightful.

Lego City Undercover review: A welcome new Wii U recruit

The Lego game formula, successful though it may be, has been in serious need of a shake-up for some time.

Packed full of jokes from start to finish ; A pleasing mix of new and familiar ; Plenty of collectibles and side-missions

Signposting is too vague at times ; Loading times can be excessive ; GamePad scanning isn't fun

LEGO City Undercover Review

Lego City Undercover is a joyful open-world romp for players of all ages.

Witty writing and characters keep you giggling throughout ; The lure of Lego studs and collectables is hard to resist ; Endlessly varied and entertaining missions and puzzles ; Different disguises make for lots of diversity ; Great use of the GamePad

Inconsistent jumping ; Unsatisfying combat ; Exceptionally long load times

The Lego series' platforming has always been floaty, and Undercover is no different. Jumping isn't quite precise, and camera angles aren't always best suited to the action required. You might leap onto a rock that seems like a perfectly reasonable...

Lego City Undercover review – under construction

The biggest Wii U exclusive of the year so far sees Lego striking out for itself, with no movie tie-ins but instead a giant GTA style open world.

Well-designed open world is teeming with secrets and genuinely worthwhile collectables. Consistently amusing dialogue and a great variety of vehicles

Low tech visuals, atrocious load times, and poor use of the GamePad – with no off-TV option. Simplistic combat and occasionally bland art design. No multiplayer

It’s a not a very good advert for the Wii U but this is still a hugely entertaining open world game, with one of the funniest video game scripts ever.
